Column filtering on linked table (SQL Server)

I am having a weird issue that I'm hoping someone has come across. I have a mdb file as a front end and link to my backend which is a SQL Server database. When I open one of the linked tables to review the records, I do not see the same column filtering options that I do when I look at a linked Access table. The list of data options with check boxes are missing. Does anyone know why there's a difference and if it's possible to have the same filtering capabilities from a linked SQL Server table as an Access linked table?
